After touring festivals worldwide promoting their breakthrough debut album, Baby Darling Doll Face Honey,
Band of Skulls brought us some kick-ass power trio Rock n Roll.
In Sweet Sour, Band of Skulls polished their sound, and made it heavier and more original than their debut album. Marsden and Richardson unison vocals are even more hypnotizing in this album and show that the band is way more committed to their music and their sound. From the Sabbath-like title-song, to the gloomy ballad ‘Navigate’, passing thru the hypnotic 7/8 rhythm of ‘Wanderluster’ and the ass-kicking riff-rock of ‘The Devil Takes Care of His Own’, Band of Skull sure is a band to watch. Russell Marsden shows how eclectic his guitar playing is, his Gretsch sound like a wall of sound that would make Malcom Young proud . Matt Hayward is one of those drummers that got so much stamina in his playing that makes you sweat with your headphones on.
Hayward plays simple but righteous, and its always on the edge. Anyways, Sweet Sour is an kick-ass album, and brought Band of Skulls to a new level, definately a record that will make your soul stoned!
Stoned Tracks: Sweet Sour, Wanderluster, The Devil Takes Care Of His Own, Navigate, Lies.
