For our first skateboard/surf article we had some heavy names lined up: Duane Peters, Chad Muska, Trujillo, Hosoi, Tony Hawk or even visiting Mark Gator in prison.
Nah, we didn’t, but we’re sure all of them would be stoked to watch what Circus Bowl dynamite kid, Tyler Coffman can do.
Especially when riding Circus, where he got some long ass firing lines with pretty much any grind trick you can name it. And he’s a pretty chilled dude too.
Here are a few words with the dude.
How long have you been skating?
About 9 years now.
What’s you board set-up?
Right now, I’m riding a 8.5 wide Demonseed board with 149 independent trucks and 56 mm bones wheels
149 w/ 56′s, can’t go wrong with that. Best thing about South Florida?
Worst thing about South Florida?
The lack of good concrete skate parks.
Sure thing man. Best South Florida spot?
Favorite all time skater?
Mark Lake for being 54 years old and still killing it.
Florida Swamp Ape Ale.
Right on, got to try this one sometime. Favorite sauce?
The special kind.
G Love would be happy to hear that. Which personality (dead or alive) would you invite to have a drink?
Mark Gonzales as a teenager.
Fuck yea, make sure you invite me. We’ve met in some music festivals before, which one is your favorite fest?
I would have to say Wanee just because of the great old friends that I always get to see there. When I go to the Swanee river its like being at my home away from home that I never want to leave.
Swanee is paradise, can’t wait to be back.
Best groove to chill? Best to rip?
I guess I would have to say Truckin’ by The Grateful Dead to chill to and best to rip to would be California Uber Alles by the Dead Kennedy’s
Can’t go wrong with the Deads. How did you get involved with the Circus Bowl crew?
I’ve know Jason Ranft the builder/owner of circus bowl for years before the circus and when i got the chance to be part of it I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
He made you that offer that you can’t deny…What skate trips have you done around the U.S.? Name us some spots!
Its usually hard for me to go on any trips out of Florida because of work but this summer I was able to hit a couple nice parks near Asheville, NC including the team pain park in Asheville and another sick brand new concrete park in the mountains on the Cherokee reservation. The following week I got the pleasure of skating the awesome bowl at Chelsea pier in New York city which made for a pretty epic trip.
Where the perfect trip for you start? where would it end?
The perfect trip for me would start off in Fort Lauderdale and end in Portland.
Heaps of good spots in the way. Great talkin to you man!
Shout out to sponsors? Circus Bar maybe?
I’d like to shout out to DemonSeed skateboards and BC Surf and Sport for always hooking it up, Jay from the Circus Bowl for building awesomeness, and Circus Bar for keeping it fun!
